I featured Legowelt near the beginning of the show again this week, with a track from his new album Pancakes With Mist. The release of Pancakes somehow slipped by me, or I'd have played Shadows In The Street Life weeks ago. It's very good (I like it anyway) and currently listed as name-your-price, so go check it out.

The Duran Duran remix at the end of this hour is of course from MASK 500. The copy I have, the copy that's played here, is the 2009 bootleg. I've both played and written about it before, and I'm sure I will again. Might be worth writing up a post dedicated to it.

I didn't leave myself enough time to read the tracklist out loud at the end of this show, unfortunately. Sorry to the folks who got left out. I don't have too much more to say about this one; it was fine. The last 20 minutes are particularly good, I think.

Thanks to everybody out there listening. I'll be back next week to continue my tradition of playing bass music in August, so prepare yourself for at least two weeks of Miami Bass.

MTT 144 / Save The Whale

MTT144 Spectrogram

Ambient, IDM, and synth-y stuff. Beats for a very tired Thanksgiving evening.

This show (like most of MTT Year 3) is no longer available for download here. Get in touch with me at the email address listed at the top of this page if you want a copy of it.

This post was updated 2020/10/18.

  1. Rings Around Saturn / Saturnine 00:00
  2. Micronaut / Metatrak 02:09
  3. Dabrye / Making It Pay 07:50
  4. D'Arcangelo / Elix 10:41
  5. Jega / Geometry 15:08
  6. The Volt Per Octaves / Science 19:29
  7. Metamatics / Toy Toy 23:11
  8. Rashida Prime / {digital dungeon} 28:53
  9. Occult Orientated Crime / Rodrigo Syntese System 30:45
  10. Newworldaquarium / Introduction 36:07
  11. San.Dra / No Signal In Paradise 38:07
  12. Future Sound Of London / Antique Toy 43:02
  13. Neotropic / Feelin' Remote 46:50
  14. Galaxy Toobin' / Toobin' Theme 54:12

Neotropic's Feelin' Remote is my highlight this week. It's from the White Rabbits LP, which I also featured back in MTT074. Love the bell sounds, the harmonica, the nice organ / pad / string sounds... White Rabbits is an album that's grown on me over the years. I wasn't ready for it in 2004; now I love it.

These tracks are all good, though. From Jega's classic Geometry through Legowelt's Rodrigo Syntese System to the very end with the Galaxy Toobin' Gang's Toobin' Theme. ("Contains hit song TOOBIN' THEME", the cover of the digital version tells me.)

This was a slow show, lots of long tracks. Something to relax to after a hard couple of days. Not sure what I'll do next week; probably something fast.

MTT 140 / Distorted Voices

MTT140 Spectrogram

Acid, EBM, new beat, industrial, wave-y, and the classic first track from Legowelt's Squadra Blanco album.

This show (like most of MTT Year 3) is no longer available for download here. Get in touch with me at the email address listed at the top of this page if you want a copy of it.

This post was updated 2020/10/18.

  1. Albert Kuningas / Abduktio 00:00
  2. Squadra Blanco / Night Of The Illuminati 01:12
  3. Linear Movement / Cytogenetic Movement 05:14
  4. Victrola / Maritime Tatami 08:54
  5. HNO3 / Doughnut Dollies 13:06
  6. Kirlian Camera / Helden Platz 16:05
  7. Cabaret Voltaire / Crackdown 19:13
  8. Front 242 / With Your Cries 21:21
  9. Skinny Puppy / Basement 23:05
  10. Insect / Bacteria 25:07
  11. Final Cut / Open Your Eyes 28:47
  12. Ministry / We Believe 31:58
  13. The Klinik / Memories 36:57
  14. Rude 66 / Black Sabbath 41:07
  15. Mantra / Purple Phantasm 46:12
  16. Scarlit Port / Touch U Without Touchin Ur Skin 50:46
  17. Caron / Caverns 54:27
  18. Timeblind / 303 Crouched In Corner Chewing On Dust... 58:03

I didn't have much time to put this together, so this is a collection of favorites. Rude 66's Black Sabbath, Maritime Tatami, Night Of The Illuminati, Ministry's We Believe... . The persistently awesome Brokntoys label appears again, as tracks 16 and 17, both moody dramatic acid.

This is a messy set, but the tracks are good. I really enjoyed playing EBM and industrial stuff these past few weeks, though my knowledge and selection is lacking. I think that's something I'll pursue over the next year.

That's October done. Next week's show will be a return to regular programming with a set of fast (130-140) electro, so stick around if you're into that.
