And now I see the mpv manual has more precise values:

"0.9438743126816935" for [, and "1.059463094352953" for ].

Assuming equal temperament, the difference between a given semitone and its next higher or lower semitone is just shy of 6%. (5.94, I think).

This is useful when DJing. Songs tend to sound good at 0% and +/- 6%, and less good at other values.

To change pitch by these steps in mpv, set "audio-pitch-correction=no" in your config, and map the [ and ] keys to "multiply speed 1/1.06" and "multiply speed 1.06" in input.conf.

It's an old trick; posting because I figured out the mpv stuff yesterday.

Black Rain / Night City.Tokyo

This is part of the original (abandoned) soundtrack to Johnny Mnemonic. Black Rain is Stuart Argabright, Shinichi Shimokawa, and others. (I'd have to pull my disc out to check). Released on Fifth Colvmn in 1995, this is as #cyberpunk as you can get. #ambient , #industrial , #techno . Proper. Some of this soundtrack was re-released by Blackest Ever Black in 2012.

I often wonder what Johnny Mnemonic would be like if it fit this soundtrack.

Let the record show I woke up at 1 AM Wednesday morning, and am still awake at 11 AM Thursday morning. Tea, then books, then beer, then beer.

Tonight's radio program will be interesting. And difficult.

Didn't make it to stage 6 in 1945 this night. I did pick up used hardcovers of "Company Town" by Madeline Ashby and "Get Shorty" by Elmore Leonard, though.

Get Shorty is hilarious. It's my first time reading Leonard. His dialog, timing, and story pacing is incredible.

I'm headed to the arcade tonigh - my friend DJ Cache is playing his regular monthly show there. Electro, italo disco, techno, etc. Here's hoping I make it to stage 6 in Strikers 1945 again.
