MTT295 Spectrogram

Electro (& other) at 120 this hour, a little cryptic & eerie following this month's theme. This mix features five tracks from Brokntoys (including relatively new pieces by Barking and Champagne Mirrors) and two from Bass Agenda. Plus, of course, a bunch of old and weird tunes.

Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download this mix. This mix is also available at mixcloud.

Tracks #2 Haar by Ivna Ji, #6 The Black Cat by Annechoic, #7 Cyclic Melancholia by Weith, #8 Superstition by Barking, and #11 Waterfall by Champagne Mirrors are all from the label Brokntoys. The latter two were both released this year (and so are pretty new by my standards). All worth checking out, of course. Cold Light, Low Tide, the source of track #6, is a free download and a good place to start.

The back third of this mix was arranged as a way to get to Drux by Photodementia and Analogically Reacting by Nancy Fortune, two tracks I love playing together (and haven't played in years, not since MTT 034). Photodementia has been active recently, they put out put out an album on WéMè Records earlier this year (that doesn't seem to be available digitally yet; the sound samples seem good though) so be on the lookout for that.

In the interest of releasing this before the week is over (ha) I'll cut the notes short there. Thanks for listening & be sure to check out the links above if you hear something you like in the mix. I'll try to be back next week at my usual time of Thursday evening (but we'll see).
