I was mixing some drum & bass tonight, playing around, and came up against the weird time signature in this track. I count the first phrase as 6 and the second as 7; I guess that makes it 13 over 4? Something like that. #nowplaying

I bought a USB gamepad the other day, and then spent hours trying to get mednafen to see it.
It turns out that mednafen looks for linux evdev joysticks if it finds linux/joystick.h at compile time. I'm on FreeBSD, so I need it to use SDL2 for joystick support. A dependency of qt5-gui installs joystick.h, causing the problem.
The workaround was to edit src/drivers/Joystick.cpp around line 178 and force it to use SDL2. I should write a patch and submit it to the mednafen port maintainer.
A few days ago I bought a Logitech F310 gamepad at my local thrift store. FreeBSD detected it immediately and created the appropriate uhid entry in /dev. SDL2 also saw the gamepad, which I was able to verify with Joytran. The Mednafen game console emulator did not see the device, however. Here's why:
