I'm taking an hour or so today to go through all the Ilian Tape releases on bandcamp. My usual process for going through a lot of music like this is to flip from track to track giving each about 30s, an old record store habit from when the listening stations had time limits.

It's making me nostalgic for all the used techno sections I've dug through in the past.

MTT 213 / Never Won't

MTT213 Spectrogram

A 90 and 100 BPM grab-bag of downtempo, electro, IDM, instrumental hiphop, old tracker modules, and other stuff I've been listening to this week. This mix features a couple recent purchases (Pete Rock's Petestrumentals and Paul Blackford's Betamax) and a couple tracks from an old favorite of mine, Red Snapper's Our Aim Is To Satisfy Red Snapper.

This mix is no longer available for download from this website. It is however available at mixcloud.

Oh wow, Arrow Video put out their Burst City bluray last September. With audio commentary by Tom Mes. It says it's region B though. :(

Fully in spring cleaning mode now. Working at reducing the things I own to where they fit on a couple of (big) shelves.

Posting this mix early because I'm nearing 24 hours awake and badly need to sleep.

They found the 35mm masters for Project A-Ko!

I had always heard that we'd never get a good release of A-Ko because the original materials were missing. Lost or destroyed. Now Discotek has the master and will be using it for their upcoming bluray.

After four hours of trying a bunch of programs and reading code I think I've found almost all the necessary pieces to get Renoise to support MIDI while running under FreeBSD's Linux ABI compatibility layer.

It involves Hans Selasky's alsa-seq-server and a missing ioctl mapping in the linux compat layer.

I really wish Renoise supported JACK MIDI.

So I *think* I've repaired my Deathadder mouse.

I disassembled it, breaking a plastic mounting post in the process. Then I cleaned it, replaced the USB cable, and superglued that broken post back into place (getting glue all over my fingers), then reassembled it.

The cable and left-click action are fixed. Unfortunately the scroll wheel is now super sensitive. Good enough. Time to go play Quake.

The inputs on the Audiobox seem to be really sensitive. There's two inputs, each with a combo jack featuring XLR (for mics) and 1/4" (for unamplified instruments).

I've patched the balanced outputs of my mixer into the 1/4" instrument inputs on the Audiobox. After a bit of experimentation with gain I get acceptable sound quality. I hope. Fingers crossed.

I'm happy to report that the latest version of the Presonus Audiobox 96 works under FreeBSD using the standard USB sound driver snd_uaudio(4). (Which it should, as it claims to be USB class-compliant in its documentation).

We'll see how long it lasts. It's built OK, but I've heard they can be flakey.
