My sleep schedule got messed up again. Friday became Saturday, and now Saturday has become Sunday. I don't like waking up at 8 PM.
Going for something a bit more fun this week. Brightening up to match the season. Selection is the usual electro, IDM, and techno, all at about 120 BPM.

Three or four hours spent selecting music, about 90 minutes spent practicing transitions, and now an hour to eat and give my ears a rest.
That feels like the right amount of time. Not rushed or too wasteful. Feels good.

And I'm just now realizing I missed my chance to make a "Galaxy Toobin'" reference with the show title. Ah well.
Some wandering, synth-y music this week. Electro and IDM mostly. Letting tracks run long, relaxing a bit.

The Art of DJing: Jeff Mills
The latest in Resident Advisor's "Art Of DJing" series. These are always good, and I can't think of a better subject than Jeff Mills.
Grab bag show. Ambient, dub techno, IDM, bits and pieces I've been listening to this past month.

Another Logical Aggression at Ground Kontrol has come and gone. The local college was on spring break this week, so Megaphysics and I dug up some breaks (and adjacent music) to play.
I went first, selecting music roughly between 100 and 125 BPM. Here's what I played:

It's last Wednesday, which means DJ Megaphysics and I are playing music at Ground Kontrol #pdx tonight. Free play arcade, music from 9 PM until close, 21 and over, $7 at the door.
I've packed a bunch of downtempo, instrumental hip-hop, and big beat. I know Megaphysics is bringing Florida breaks and faster underground stuff.
"Spring breaks". Should be a fun time.
Late night tea.
I'm digging through old downtempo and breakbeat releases for a show tomorrow. I left it up to the last second, unfortunately. Won't have much time to practice.

The latest OpenMW (opensource Morrowind engine implementation) appeared in the FreeBSD ports tree yesterday. This new version (0.45) features major performance improvements.
It's a super sweet project. Here's their website, for anyone unfamiliar with it:
*sigh*. 2019-03-22, not 2018. I mistyped there. Not worth deleting and reposting.
More dub techno this week. A slower, sleepier selection.

Just finished reading "Babel-17" by Samuel R. Delany.
I'm a fan of Delany, but this is my first time through Babel-17. It's amazing. Sometimes a swashbuckling pulp sci-fi adventure, sometimes an exploration of language (esp. linguistic relativity, sapir-whorf). I really loved it.
I've got the Vintage trade paperback edition that includes "Empire Star", so I'll read that next.

I'm watching Bryonato's speedrun of Titanfall 2 at Calithon. I'm amazed at the game's movement. It's the first big budget FPS with complex movement I've seen in... 10 years? Since Mirror's Edge.
The game would be better with q2 doublejumps and q3 wall clipping, though. That'd smooth it out.
