I played through about half of the Alkaline 1.1 mod for Quake today. It's really good! I got lost a few times but that's OK, it was an opportunity to look at the scenery. I think I'll finish the mod tomorrow.

Alkaline 1.1 at Quaddicted:

alkaline1.1.zip - Alkaline 1.1 … in the Quake archive at Quaddicted.com

Version 1.1 update of Alkaline, featuring fixes and polish to the original as well as several additional maps, enemies, and music tracks.

Music File Management 3: Playback with CMUS

CMUS on my computer in Library View playing a song by Aural Float

The C* Music Player (AKA CMUS) is my preferred music player and library program. It's lightweight, highly configurable, and is controlled via the keyboard (all things I like). It works well with my directory structure and standardized tags. And it supports a wide variety of formats & seems to handle large collections well.

This short post will go over my CMUS configuration, including how I have it set up to edit tags from the library views. This is the final part of a three part series, the first part covered how I organize my music files and the second how I manage their tag metadata.

Finished Dissolution Of Eternity. It was good! I enjoyed playing it more than Scourge Of Armagon, I think, but Armagon was more visually impressive. I had definitely never completed Dissolution before, the final boss was a surprise to me.

Completed the first Quake expansion Scourge of Armagon in about four hours (without secret hunting or playing the hidden levels).

Was good, about the right length to play in one sitting. I've played through it once before but didn't remember much about it.

FreeBSD + Mednafen + OBS on a 10 year old computer is not a good combination. It works but stutters occasionally.

"Working in my laboratory making mutant tests strange reactions came upon me while sitting at my desk. Clearance must be achieved before I can tell the rest the result is of the creation of the great Professor X"

So good

Mix is gonna be a few hours late. Finished recording at nine, doing the editing & writing now, expect it to be up at ~1 AM.

Meant to record before I went to sleep this morning at ~10 AM but didn't. Ah well, late is OK.

Finished episodes 1 & 2 of Quake tonight, will try to do 3 & 4 (the rest of the game) tomorrow.

Those Ogres and their aim. I took a lot of grenades to the face.
