Played up to the fight with Ridley in Lower Norfair on stream today. I'll come back tomorrow and finish the game.

Streaming Super Metroid was a good test to see if my computer can handle SNES emulation plus realtime video encoding on the CPU. It can, but just barely. There were occasional glitches that I might be able to solve with some scheduler tweaks.

Completed Alkaline 1.1. Really awesome mod. Visuals, gameplay, everything. I played it on normal difficulty this time; next I'll have to try hard.

The last map I played today in particular, "Overengineering Mania" by Mazu & Greenwood, was very creative. It was a bit like a Metroidvania in that there were several items that granted movement abilities that opened up new areas of the map. It took me around an hour to beat.

I played through about half of the Alkaline 1.1 mod for Quake today. It's really good! I got lost a few times but that's OK, it was an opportunity to look at the scenery. I think I'll finish the mod tomorrow.

Music File Management 3: Playback with CMUS

CMUS on my computer in Library View playing a song by Aural Float

The C* Music Player (AKA CMUS) is my preferred music player and library program. It's lightweight, highly configurable, and is controlled via the keyboard (all things I like). It works well with my directory structure and standardized tags. And it supports a wide variety of formats & seems to handle large collections well.

This short post will go over my CMUS configuration, including how I have it set up to edit tags from the library views. This is the final part of a three part series, the first part covered how I organize my music files and the second how I manage their tag metadata.

Finished Dissolution Of Eternity. It was good! I enjoyed playing it more than Scourge Of Armagon, I think, but Armagon was more visually impressive. I had definitely never completed Dissolution before, the final boss was a surprise to me.

Completed the first Quake expansion Scourge of Armagon in about four hours (without secret hunting or playing the hidden levels).

Was good, about the right length to play in one sitting. I've played through it once before but didn't remember much about it.
