oh dang there's a new Alva Recek EP. Released April 2nd it says. Been a while since I've picked up any new #electro.

This post brought to you by the person who suggested I use a mod for Baldur's Gate that adds AI-generated voice acting for all dialog in the game. Presumably they recommended this because they didn't want to hear me read out all the text myself.

Mods like that are sort of complicated, I think. On the one hand it improves the games accessibility; on the other, the "AI" generated voice acting is trained on the performances of real actors without their permission.

I've seen similar mods for other games, notably Morrowind, and they always weird me out.

I haven't run into much of the current trend of "AI" machine-learning large-language-model stuff in my day-to-day life but whenever I do it makes me feel exhausted. Cold take on the fediverse, I know, but I really don't like that shit.

Also super tired of hearing about it in general (which means i shouldn't mention it myself but whatever).

Finished the main game of Baldur's Gate EE tonight. My first time through.

Managed to complete it on normal difficulty without having to drop to easy or story at any point. A couple of astonishingly hard fights but overall rewarding. (Turns out wands of paralyzation are really good). Very glad to have played it.

The fight at the end of Durlag's Tower is really really hard. (For anyone wondering).

Managed to win by getting a Greater Malison to stick & then stunning the Demon Knight with a wand of paralyzation. An unlikely sequence of events I think.

The Sennheiser HD-5 SPs are totally gone I think. Discard. The Sennheiser HD 457s are repairable. Keep. The two Panasonic RP-HTX7s need replacement metal headbands (which would require buying a set of donor headphones or manufacturing a new one from scratch). Will strip them for usable parts & discard the rest.
