I recently finished reading the novel "Infomocracy" by Malka Older.

It's full of pretty neat near-future ideas, big and small. The big one being world spanning micro-democracy.

There's a lot of plot and dialog, not a lot of description of the setting or development of the characters. Especially for the first half of the novel.

I liked it, particularly the second half, but I didn't love it. I've learned that I prefer highly descriptive (flowery, maybe even purple) prose.

I just finished reading "The Song Is You" by Megan Abbott.

Tough, nasty, cruel; proper hardboiled crime fiction. Very, very well written. Not much redemption to be found (especially in the protagonist...). I feel dirtier for having read it.

This is the second book by Abbott that I've read. The first was "Queenpin", which is just as good, if not better.

Will definitely be picking up more of her work.

Hah, and I just now realize that "Every Grain Of Sand" is the name of a Bob Dylan song. I don't know my Dylan at all.

That's what I get for not searching for names before applying them to things.

A few tracks from the Sbles3plex album, a couple of old favorites, and some high drama courtesy of E.R.P. and Drexciya. Tracks are good, mixing OK, levels OK. I'm happy.

462,600 in Strikers 1945 tonight. Made it about 1/3rd of the way into stage 6. Not my best, but fair.

My goal is to complete the first loop on one credit. The farthest I've made it is stage 7, out of I think 8 stages.

I'm heading out to the arcade tonight. Will report back with my Strikers 1945 score.

I've been re-reading Gibson's "Pattern Recognition". I like it much more the second time through.

I'm an obsessive consumer of niche media (music). My first time reading the book, I somehow missed that a large chunk of it is about exactly that. Cayce's consumption of, obsession with, the "footage".

I've got about 100 pages left. I don't remember how it ends.
