Day one of Quakecon went more or less as expected. Major technical problems. Not enough games shown.

Quake Champions doesn't look ready for a major tournament. It looked like there were a lot of connection problems (and on LAN, too). The whole thing looked much less reliable than what I expect from a Quake game.

It is exciting to see some of my favorite players compete again, though. Cooller performed very well. As did Fazz (which was a surprise).

Quakecon starts tomorrow.

It looks like the stream coverage will be the new game, "Quake Champions". The duel competition seems more open than Quakelive. Round-based duel is pretty weird though.

Will be cheering for Cooller, and for any of the Australian players to place highly. Especially after Dandaking won an invitation to the event with ~250 ping...

Ninja III: The Domination. VHS, bought for $1 at my local Goodwill. An ex-Hollywood Video tape.

Recorded/digitized with ffmpeg, an old BT848 card, and FreeBSD. 40G raw (QP 0) x264, compressed down to a CRF 21 1.7G x264 mkv.

A pretty good looking tape. Much better than some others I've done recently.

There's a Quake 3 CPMA Beginners Duel Cup going on today. Mixture of stock and kenya maps. Nekon is streaming it right now at http://twitch.tv/nekontv. Expect some swearing.

If I'd known the cup was open to american players I might've signed up. Will have to keep a look out for the next one.

This one's pretty similar to the music I used to listen to, buy and DJ back when I was in high school. Which is a little embarrasing to think about.

It was fun to revisit these songs and mix them again. I hope everybody who happens to listen enjoys them too. Even if they all sound a bit worn out.
