MTT267 Spectrogram

Electro up in the 130s this week featuring new tracks by Alva Recek and Skee Mask. (Well, new by my standards, anyway). Bunch of tracks from around 2018-2020 too, a more recent selection in general.

This set came together as a reason to play something from Alva Recek's new Soma EP on Woodwork Recordings. Any of the four tracks would've fit; the selection here is track #9 Soma yellow. Very smooth electro, reminds me of DJ Life's EP for RAND Muzik, Nullptr, or Plant43. Some of this stuff is starting to approach trance, I think, which is cool (in small amounts). Anyway check out the Soma EP, all four tracks are great.

The other new piece here is #11 Korarchaeota by Skee Mask from their album A. Slightly crunchy techno as expected from Skee Mask, with Korarchaeota being the tune that fits most easily into an electro set. The album was part of a donation drive for relief organizations; it's available now name-your-price at the link above.

One more track I'd like to highlight this week is #5 Crash Your System by Taras Vinnichenko from the Change Yourself EP on Motion Related Records. Change Yourself is the B side, a techno-electro piece, an energetic synth arpeggio over syncopated drum machine beats. It reminds me strongly of Drop by Subway, a track I've always loved playing. I played the A side of the EP, a warm bit of dub techno, a few weeks ago.

That's what I've got this week. If you hear something you like please check out the links above & consider supporting the artist by purchasing the release. I'll be back next week, Thursday evening as usual, with something slower. Electro, maybe a little breakbeat.
