MTT256 Spectrogram

Electro, house, techno; relatively warm music this week. 120 rising a bit to 125. Mostly old tunes, though there's a new-ish short piece in here by dbacon (Dave Paton) and a new-ish nice ambient track by Neotex (Neocortex?) on Trnch Music.

This mix is no longer available for download from this website. It is however available at mixcloud.

  1. Neotex / Static Animation 00:00
  2. The Darkvoid Project / Open Eye Dreaming 04:46
  3. dbacon / Chordex2 09:07
  4. Mikron / Keyhole 11:52
  5. Model 500 / Starlight (Soultek's Falling Stars Mix) 16:03
  6. Fanu / Pimeys 20:12
  7. Dan White / Bunjil 25:38
  8. Intelligent Communication / Critical Ebb 29:30
  9. Marco Bernardi / Mystery Of Nazerus (Original Version) 33:54
  10. Mat Carter / Emotive Motion 39:50
  11. Herr Wächer / Heliopause 43:34
  12. Supreems / Stream Of Consciousness 47:58
  13. Underworld / Rez 53:52
  14. Micronaut / Rhythmcompute 59:30

The two new (2020 and later) tracks in this hour are #1 Static Animation by Neotex (Neocortex?) from the Landown Vol. 1 comp on Trnch Music and #2 Chordex2 by dbacon from Half-arsed Cupboard Jams 2. Warm ambient and chunky beats, respectively. I had thought that Mat Carter's Emotive Motion was new as well (and said as much in my intro) but I was mistaken, that's a piece from 2002. It was however remastered and reissued in 2019 along with the rest of the Zark Time EP.

Track #11 Heliopause by Herr Wächer (AKA The Sentinel) really stood out to me while mixing. It reminds me of the space-y techno Jeff Mills makes, or maybe Model 500's album Deep Space; lush and beautiful. I cut Heliopause short to work in the next track, so I say you should give the original unmixed track and the whole Heliopause EP a listen.

Mixing Underworld's Rez in after Stream Of Consciousness was kind of a stretch but I think it works OK. Pulled it (Rez) off the shelf because I hadn't heard it in ages. The copy played here is the US release, TVT 8718, though it's a later repress I believe, one of the ones in a blue-metallic colored sleeve.

And that's it. This is a pretty disjointed selection; I may have been waking up while recording. I'll be back next week Thursday evening with another end-of-the-month slow mix. Thanks for listening, and be sure to check out the artists and releases linked above.
