MTT140 Spectrogram

Acid, EBM, new beat, industrial, wave-y, and the classic first track from Legowelt's Squadra Blanco album.

This show (like most of MTT Year 3) is no longer available for download here. Get in touch with me at the email address listed at the top of this page if you want a copy of it.

  1. Albert Kuningas / Abduktio 00:00
  2. Squadra Blanco / Night Of The Illuminati 01:12
  3. Linear Movement / Cytogenetic Movement 05:14

  5. HNO3 / Doughnut Dollies 13:06
  6. Kirlian Camera / Helden Platz 16:05
  7. Cabaret Voltaire / Crackdown 19:13
  8. Front 242 / With Your Cries 21:21
  9. Skinny Puppy / Basement 23:05
  10. Insect / Bacteria 25:07

  15. Mantra / Purple Phantasm 46:12
  16. Scarlit Port / Touch U Without Touchin Ur Skin 50:46
  17. Caron / Caverns 54:27
  18. Timeblind / 303 Crouched In Corner Chewing On Dust... 58:03

I didn't have much time to put this together, so this is a collection of favorites. Rude 66's Black Sabbath, Maritime Tatami, Night Of The Illuminati, Ministry's We Believe... . The persistently awesome Brokntoys label appears again, as tracks 16 and 17, both moody dramatic acid.

This is a messy set, but the tracks are good. I really enjoyed playing EBM and industrial stuff these past few weeks, though my knowledge and selection is lacking. I think that's something I'll pursue over the next year.

That's October done. Next week's show will be a return to regular programming with a set of fast (130-140) electro, so stick around if you're into that.

MTT139 Spectrogram

Noisy electro, chunky EBM, new beat, and moody synthpop this week.

  18. Exhausted Modern / Absence Of Divine Principle 51:15
  19. The Cure / The Holy Hour (KöSHRiMP Remake) 55:24
  20. Trisomie 21 / La Fête Triste 57:19

This hour features four new (well, new-to-me) tracks from the excellent Brokntoys label. #1 Danse3 by Automat, #14 Body by Luke Eargoggle & The Hacker, #17 Power Plant Tales by Gamma Intel, and #18 Absence Of Divine Principle by Exhausted Modern to be specific. I recommend all of those releases, and the Brokntoys catalog in general.

There are some fun oddities in this mix. Octagon Man's Area-18, on the old Electron Industries label, for example. (Purchased at the old Anthem Records, I believe). Also Twilight Ritual's Closed Circuit, played here from the 2005 Rituals CD release. ("Brussels is a very Kafka city").

No real complaints with this mix. There's a tiny bit of clashing vocals between 24-24 and Closed Circuit, but that's it. I've got no idea what I'll do next week - either more EBM and new beat, or a spooky ambient show. We'll see which way the wind blows.

Logical Aggression @ Ground Kontrol / April 2019

DJ Megaphysics and I played our regular show at Ground Kontrol last night. No theme this time, just selecting music we've been listening to over the month.

Megaphysics opened the night with some house-y and wave-y music, on the slower end of things. His set here features a couple of nice Twin Peaks references; see if you can spot them. Here's his tracklist:

  1. Nu Shooz / I Can’t Wait (Vocal, Long Dutch Mix) ~9:00 PM
  2. Putsch '79 / Salted Water & Sticky Fingers
  3. 6th Borough Project / Just A Memory

  14. Book Of Love / I Touch Roses (Long Stemmed Version)
  15. Jade 4U / That Boy
  16. Chromatics / Shadow (Michel’s Runway Edit)
  17. CTRL_ALT_Destroy / Downstream (Twin Peaks Theme Remix)
  18. Ali Renault / Keeper Of The Seven Keys
  19. KZA / Le Troublant Acid
  20. Advanced Boi / Advance Yourself
  21. Kerrier District / Negresco

  36. Ghentlon / Techno Dream
  37. Raiders of the Lost Arp / Arrival
  38. Boo Williams / Eternal Mind
  39. Unknown Artist / Untitled 01

I played the latter half of the night, running back a combination of my recent radio shows. Electro, IDM, and Synthwave, accelerating into a little Dubstep at the end. Here's my list:

  1. Reedale Rise / Foliage ~11:30 PM
  2. Miotek / White Funk
  3. Tourist At Home / We've Got Strength In Numbers
  4. Mitch Murder / Bertone's Theme
  5. DMX Krew / DMX Funk (Rock Mix)

  7. Sbles3plex / Mathematic Universe
  8. Sbles3plex / Mathematic Universe (AE35 Remix)

  10. Drexciya / Song Of The Green Whale

  35. Plant43 / Neon
  36. Delayscape / Last Day Of Spring
  37. 2562 / Basin Dub
  38. Bandulu / Isn't It Time

Finally, Megaphysics got in one last track to close the night. I like to imagine that in some alternate universe this (or perhaps some other KLF song) was on the Twin Peaks soundtrack.

  1. The KLF / Build A Fire ~1:40 AM

Thanks as always to Ground Kontrol for having us, and for everyone who listened & enjoyed the tunes.

  15. Pitch Mode / 230408
  16. Vincent Koreman / Abandon Yr Goals
  17. Private Entertainment / In The Woods (Venus Noir Mix)
  18. Unknown / UnTrak

Warning: this one gets a bit crunchy at the end. The last 10 minutes in particular.

Not too dissimilar from what I've been playing this month. Bunker, Crème Organization, IT, Viewlexx. A little more disco-y, or techno-y, or house-y.

Squadra Blanco's Night of the Illuminati deserves a special mention. A fantastic Legowelt sideproject (in case it wasn't obvious). It should be heard by everyone.

  4. Shadowbunny / Feathers
  5. Shemale / Pink Leotard

  13. Mas 2008 / U Can't Emulate A Soul
  14. Visitor / Mechanical Soul
  15. Shadowbunny / ~
  16. Uniflux / Broken Wave Encoder

Black Montanas, Bunker, Viewlexx, and a few odds and ends.

There's an unfortunate zipper noise at the five minute mark thanks to a technical issue with my playback unit. (I suspect it's a JACK buffer underrun occuring on my SCS.4DJ due to bad throughput from a USB flash drive.)

Shadowbunny is the artist I'd like to highlight this week. I've been a fan since O, cmuzik016, in 2012. The music Shadowbunny has on bandcamp sort of rides a line between electro and... witch house? (Remember witch house?). Really cool stuff. I'm a fan.

MTT008 Spectrogram

EBM & some aggressive Electro.

  1. DJ Technician / Intro
  2. Andrea Parker & David Morley / Early Days
  3. C.C.C.P. / American-Soviets (Vocal)
  4. Dynamik Bass System / Electronic
  5. TRV / Target Signal
  6. Hadamard / At The C1000
  7. Imatran Voima / Kurvi
  8. Ra-X / The Call
  9. Front Line Assembly / Vexation
  10. Equitant / Operative
  11. Front 242 / Headhunter (V1.0)
  12. Kill Memory Crash / Get Out
  13. Final Cut / The Prosecuted
  14. Li-Z / Soluzen
  15. Novamen / There's No Escaping

This was a fun one to mix. If there's a highlight here it's "Headhunter", which is still an awesome track ~30 years later. And "C.C.C.P. / American-Soviets", which seems to be about Reagen & Gorbachev playing chess as an alternative to nuclear war.

No connection issues this time, too!
