  16. UR / 4 Down 58:23

So, the first thing I forgot in my vocal intro was the title of Paul Birken's Waite Park EP, AKA HiPass Music HPS12-05, where the first track of this mix comes from. Birken has a bunch of old releases up at his bandcamp currently listed at name-your-price; if you're looking for midwest acid, techno, and the occasional chunky beat then I recommend you head over there and flip through his catalog.

Headz (A Soundtrack Of Experimental Beathead Jams) is the second thing I forgot. That's the title of the famous Mo Wax compilation that both tracks 2 and 3 come from. In my defense I didn't have the artwork in front of me.

Come Alive by Nitzer Ebb doesn't really fit here, but I wanted to hear it, so it takes a prime slot at the end of this hour. It's the one track on the As Is EP I really like, and the pressing sounds good, 12" at 45 RPM.

I'll do something quick again next week, probably electro hovering around 135. I've got some new tunes to play, so check back if you're interested in that.

MTT173 Spectrogram

Electro floating around 120 BPM. More Brokntoys, more TRUST, and an old tune by Überzone to close the show.

Due to a scheduling conflict this show did not air live on aNONradio. It was recorded a few hours later than usual and is available for listening at mixcloud and for download at rb387.net and mega.nz here. The spectrogram above links to the file hosted on djcev.com; right-click save-as to download.

  15. Sigma Algebra / Shin 48:14
  16. Überzone / Botz (Organik) 50:17
  17. Kronos Device / Dead Of Night 56:19

Track #2 ASBO Youth by Pip Williams, track #9 Rings Of Saturn by Morah, and track #10 Stranger Destiny by Luke Eargoggle are all on the label Brokntoys. Track #8 Shuttle Arctica by Biepang and track #12 Ghetto Of The Mind by Lok44 are both from the label TRUST. Strong recommendation for both labels; I keep talking them up, and they keep being awesome.

Three tracks I've been meaning to play here for years made it into this selection. First and most obvious is R9 by Cybotron (Got the eyes and ears, totalitarian truth). Second is [B]eat This by E-Control, from Global Survey Phase 2 on Dominance Electricity. I think I've played at least half that comp on this program at this point. Third and last is the Organik mix of Botz by Überzone, one of the two big mixes of Botz on that 12". It's a little odd that both R9 and Botz ended up in the same set, but I guess that's my style.

Not too much more to say about this one. I took the show title from a track on Scape One's Potent Mutagen release for Cultivated Electronics; that track was in this mix for a bit, but got cut for Random Codex.

I'll be back next week, hopefully live on aNONradio again, with something slower. It feels like a good time to play some chunky, menacing beats.

  3. Paul Birken / Rokken Fishing Hole 07:28
  4. Elecktroids / Stun Gun 09:41
  5. DJ Glow / The City 12:20
  6. Dj HasH / Underground City 15:21
  7. Scape One / Syntax Morphing 18:18
  8. Urban Tribe / Eukariotic 21:16
  9. M_Step / Annabelle 24:42
  10. Vintage Future / Frequency Snowstorm (Jam Radar Mix) 28:39
  11. Pathic / Breakdown Recovery 32:27
  12. Neotropic / Electric Bud 35:09
  13. Grammar Of Movement / Model 1600 39:18
  14. DJ R21 / Machine City 42:00
  15. Miotek / My City (Mr. Velcro Fastener Remix) 44:12
  16. Sbles3plex / Al Límite Del Abismo 47:24
  17. UR / The Illuminator 51:33
  18. Reedale Rise / Wave Rider 55:48

The first thing I've got to address is: I skipped over Underground City by Dj HasH while reading out the tracklist at the end of the show. Sorry about that. It's on the album Rumbo A Eddion on Mars Frequency Records, available digitally at the link above, name-your-price.

Track 5 The City by DJ Glow, track 8 Eukariotic by Urban Tribe, and track 9 Annabelle by M_Step are all from the label TRUST, as mentioned. I'm still working my way through a big music haul from their bandcamp shop. Basically everything on TRUST is good, so go check it out.

Track 10 Frequency Snowstorm (Jam Radar Mix) and (of course) track 17 Illuminator by UR are from the legendary Underground Resistance collective. Beatport has a large chunk of UR's old back catalog available as digital downloads; that's the only place I'm aware of where you can purchase their old tracks (aside from picking up used vinyl). In any case, Illuminator is a classic, one that everyone should know. I'm very lucky to have found a used copy on vinyl.

Scan 7's It's Time is from their album Between Worlds released last year on Deeptrax. I became aware of it when Tec-Troit put it out as a single, which is what I played here and have linked to in the tracklist. I love It's Time, and this felt like a good moment to play it.

And that's it. I think I'll do something slower next week. 120 BPM, say.

  1. Eggfooyoung / Bad Dream 00:00
  2. XY0815 & Int Main / Rigid Body 01:23
  3. Boris Divider / Electro Invader 05:58
  4. Low Orbit Satellite / Intruder9999 09:06
  5. Hadamard / You Know Wat I Mean 12:17
  6. Carl Finlow / Electro Commando 16:37
  7. Sniper Mode / The Mob Is On The Streets 21:34
  8. Darkmode / River Of Pain 26:11
  9. Front Line Assembly / No Control 29:08
  10. Final Cut / The Escape 33:05
  11. The Hacker / Dans La Salle Des Machines 35:17
  12. Li-Z / Sugar OD 39:48
  13. Sematic4 / Splinter In The Mind 42:21
  14. Johannes Heil / Brotherhood Of Snakes 46:13
  15. I-F / I Do Because I Couldn't Care Less 50:33
  16. Ra-X / This Is Not My Reality 53:53
  17. Jega / Breakpoint Envelope 57:58

Track #5 You Know Wat I Mean by Hadamard, track #8 River Of Pain by Darkmode, and track #13 Splinter In The Mind by Sematic4 are all on the excellent label Bass Agenda. The latter two are from their Various Objekts series of free compilations, which I'll recommend as good samplers of the label's sound.

Both track #11 Dans La Salle Des Machines by The Hacker and track #14 Brotherhood Of Snakes by Johannes Heil are from the 2004 compilation In Electro We Trust on Datapunk, Anthony Rother's label. My favorite tracks on the comp are Rother's two contributions, Freaks and Celebrate The Roots, both of which are available at his bandcamp.

I realize some of these selections may be in poor taste at this moment, but I'm angry and felt like listening to angry things. Black Lives Matter. Defund the police, take their money and spend it on social services. Shoutout and thank you to everyone protesting police violence in Portland, the USA, and all over the world.
